Robert Gibbs is a Partner at Bully Pulpit Interactive (BPI), a public affairs and communications agency, where he focuses on corporate reputation, executive communications, and crisis response. Prior to joining BPI in March 2020, Gibbs spent four and a half years at McDonald’s as Executive Vice President for Corporate Relations and Global Chief Communications Officer, where he oversaw all corporate communications, public relations, internal and executive communications, global government relations, and public affairs work. Before joining McDonald’s, he was a Partner at the Incite Agency, a strategic communications firm he co-founded that is now a part of BPI. Prior to Incite Agency, Gibbs was a Senior Campaign Advisor to President Barack Obama for nearly a decade. He served as Communications Director for President Obama’s 2004 Senate campaign as well as his 2008 presidential campaign, and later served as the first White House Press Secretary for the Obama Administration from January 2009 to February 2011, and as a Senior Advisor to President Obama’s re-election campaign. Gibbs was Press Secretary of then-Senator John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign and has previously specialized in Senate campaigns, having served as Communications Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and for four individual Senate campaigns. He holds a B.A. in political science from North Carolina State University.
